Sunday's Sermon Texts:

Jonah 1:1-3

This Sunday we begin a new series in the book of Jonah. This story is one of the most well known in all of scripture and is full of drama, poetry, and miracles. However, it's not mere moral lessons we learn from the book. Rather, we come face to face with a sovereign and merciful God and learn very quickly what that should mean for us. It's no surprise then that we see both of those ideas supremely manifest in the person of Jesus.

As you prepare for worship this week, I encourage you to read the entire book of Jonah. Its four short chapters can be read in just a few minutes. As you read, what do you learn about God's power and God's mercy? What do you learn about how we should respond?
