Sunday's Sermon Text:

1 Samuel 17:1-58

We looked last week at the story of Ruth and how it points forward to a Redeemer. A redeemer who is ultimately Jesus Christ. However, the story of Ruth ends with the genealogy of David. The reason for this is that the coming King David is a part of God's plan to bring us the true King, Jesus. This week we look at the story of David and Goliath, the moment it becomes clear that David is God's warrior for his people.

As you prepare for worship this week by reading this passage pay attention to where David's strength comes from, what David does for the people of Israel, and ask yourself who are you actually most like in this story?
