Sunday's Sermon Text:

Matthew 2:13-23

This Sunday we continue looking at the "geographical history" of Jesus. Amazingly, Matthew very specifically links each of these locations and events with the Old Testament. However, they are not merely direct prophecies but rather events and moments in the history of God's people that point forward to Jesus as the culmination of God's plan of salvation. Specifically, they point to Jesus ushering in a new Exodus as the true Moses and true Israel.

As you prepare for worship this week by reading this passage, go back and read the OT passages Matthew quotes. In what ways can you see Jesus as their fulfillment? How does that deepen your understanding of what he came to do?
