Sunday's Sermon Text:

Ruth 1:1-4:22

The book of Ruth, widely recognized as one of the greatest short stories ever told, is about the need of redemption and God’s provision of a redeemer. In this small human story about two destitute women in need of provision, protection, and an inheritance we see a picture of ourselves and our great need as well as God’s great provision of a Redeemer.

As you prepare for worship by reading this book pay close attention to how the plight of Naomi and Ruth parallels our own. Pay attention to God’s invisible hand of providence in the working out of the story. Look out for the great reversals of fortune by the end of the book (where things start and how they end). Also note how the various prayers in the book are answered by the end.
